There is an old saying, in the yoga world, that the crazier you are, the harder your asana practice needs to be.
We forget, very easily, that traditionally, historically, the purpose of yoga asana, of balancing on your hands, or head, or one forearm and five fingers, along with the wearing of sports bras and what are essentially, full length spanx, is all for the extremely divine purpose of one thing, and one thing alone:
Stillness.
All the bravado, all the inversion workshop bros, all people I witnessed walking out of the ashtanga practice room, holding onto the walls, moaning I think I’m going to throw up… and the whole entire purpose is conditioning your body and your mind to the point to which they can withstand being quiet and still, without losing the plot completely.
