Many many moons ago, when I first starting teaching yoga, being flung between the feeling of immense joy and excitement about my work, and the ache of bone deep exhaustion from a schedule filled to the brim of trying to make ends meet, I dreamed of what I have right now — where part of my week is to spend ample time learning, seeking inspiration, gathering ideas, tiny golden threads and new ways of seeing the world without constantly feeling rushed from one thing to the next.
I spend quite a lot of time each week, these days, gathering inspiration like a small animal collecting seeds and berries for the winter. I read, listen to podcasts and talks, I take classes and workshops with teachers I love and am curious about, I pay close attention to the world around me and the stories I hear. I write a lot of things down.
While this is, quite literally a dream come true, to fill myself up on inspiration and beauty so that it can spill all the way back out into every word I write and every class I teach, it is also important, essential even, to prioritise silence to balance all the inspiration foraging out.
It’s always a dance between the two. It’s something I’ve been asking myself, especially as we charge into Sagittarius season — is now a moment I’m primed for the taking in, the filling up of new stories, insights, lessons and sounds? Or is now the time to withdraw, to drop down, to empty everything out and come back to being with only myself?
Maybe it’s a question you would like to ask yourself, too.
With love and afternoon naps,
Emmie xo

I’m excited to share with you an episode of a Podcast I recorded recently with the beautiful Zsofi of healing union. I know Zsofi quite well as she was part of The Deep Rest Immersion earlier this year, and she has been working with me 1:1 in an extended mentorship since, so this became a very casual and open conversation about my journey and relationship to Rest. I cannot recommend Zsofi and her honey sweet voice enough, she creates so much beauty and magic with her unique perspective and work in this world.
I’ve been loving: this oracle deck. I’m obsessed. To be honest, I never connected very deeply to oracle cards until I picked up these. I thought for a long time it just wasn’t my thing. For now, at least, I am being proved quite wrong.
I’ve been drinking: this restorative, supportive blend. During my moon I will also add a dark brown rock sugar with hawthorn. You can buy these at the asian grocery store and after a lifetime of never adding sugar to my drinks, its interesting how very supportive it feels.
I’ve been eating: Japanese curry is not as difficult to make from scratch as you think. I love this recipe. I use a Japanese curry spice blend, and regeneratively farmed beef mince with organs fried in with the onions instead of the katsu for a quick, effortless and deeply nourishing meal.
I’ve been listening to: this podcast, as always. Trawling through the archives forever to accompany my daily walks. When I’m not listening to Dua Lipa, of course.
this coming week
〰 Tomorrow at 7pm AEDT we have a Self Worth & Prosperity workshop in The Studio. TDR studio workshops are less teacher / student and centred deeply around storytelling and connection. These workshops are a place to share and connect and weave threads around a specific theme. Tomorrow will include practices, too.
〰 For all Generators & MGs: I have something new for you coming this week. Stay tuned!!
〰 If you wish to purchase something sweet from The Daily Rest Shoppe for a Christmas gift, now is the best time to order as there will be no new stock before the holiday season. The sacred spirit oil is my favourite to gift to anyone who has a spiritual practice or enjoys woody scents.
