Elif Shafak is the best! I gave the forty rules of love recently to someone with a broken heart; it restored their faith in love. Also highly recommend the Bastard of Instanbul! My top fiction book was Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McGonaghy. Absolutely incredible. Blessed be!
Oooooh adding both of those to my list immediately, thank you!!! Such a beautiful idea to gift forty rules after a heartbreak 🤍🥺 it moved me so deeply~
As a fellow fine haired gal, I’m always on the hunt for products that don’t weigh my hair down. Can you like directly to the hair oil please? It’s just landing on the homepage for me.
The Island of Missing Trees and There are Rivers in the Sky were my designated summer reading, together with Haruki Murakami’s The City and Its Uncertain Walls. And now I’m thinking I must add The Forty Rules of Love! I recently finished Bernadine Evaristo’s Girl, Woman, Other which was brilliant. And my favourite this year was Han Kang’s We Do Not Part.
This was also the year I got into Deborah Levy (thanks Emmie). Fiction recommendations are the best!

I started the year reading: There are Rivers in the Sky. Now I’m convinced I must read The Forty Rules of Love too! Thanks for sharing your faves 🫶
Yes please read it!! Rivers in the Sky is a close second. It’s so good 😭 she’s a genius.
Absolutely LOVED this list Emmie. Bookmarked so many goodies. And loved your personal reflections, too. Happy 2026, friend :)
